The Montblanc TimeWalker Manufacture Chronograph combines a classic panda dial and ages strap with a new chronograph movement
Chronograph
In 1816 Louis Moinet invented the chronograph as he wanted to track astronomical objects. In the mid 1800s chronographs were used for military purposes; timing artillery fire. Nowadays they involve the timing of sports games, piloting airplanes, car racing, diving and submarine maneuvering.
A chronograph is a timing mechanism to show elapsed times. It acts as a stopwatch and can have more additional functions. A basic one has an independent sweep second hand and starts, stops and returns to zero by using pushers. More complicated chronographs use additional complications and can have multiple independent hands to measure seconds, minutes, hours and even tenths of a second.
Different types: column-wheel chronograph, double chronograph, flyback chronograph, rattrapante chronograph.
